How a Scopewise Score is calculated.

An audit you cannot check is just an opinion. So the entire rubric is on this page: the eight parameters, their weights, every sub-check behind them, and the way we price scope that a quotation left out. Nothing here changes based on who is being scored.

01 · The rubric

Eight parameters, 100 points.

ParameterWeight

Scope completeness

  • scope.coverage Share of the compared scope this quote actually prices.
  • scope.commonly_missed Covers the items vendors routinely leave out: lofts, backsplash, wiring, waterproofing, project management and design fees, transport.
20

Material specificity

  • material.brand Line items that name the brand.
  • material.grade Line items that name a board or finish grade.
  • material.brand_and_grade Lines that state brand and grade together.
20

Pricing transparency

  • pricing.itemised Share of value expressed as quantity times rate rather than a lumpsum.
  • pricing.no_open_ended No open-ended items such as 'at actuals' or 'to be decided'.
15

Warranty

  • warranty.weighted_years Warranty years weighted by what each component is worth.
  • warranty.no_void_conditions No conditions that quietly void the cover.
10

Commercial terms

  • commercial.event_milestones Payments tied to verifiable events rather than calendar dates.
  • commercial.advance Advance at or below 30% of contract value.
  • commercial.delay_clause A delay clause with a stated consequence.
10

Design competency

  • design.drawings Drawings or 3D references included.

10

Project management

  • pm.named_owner A named project manager or single point of contact.
  • pm.change_order A defined change-order process.
8

GST clarity

  • gst.single_basis One consistent GST basis across the quote.
  • gst.correct_rate The stated rate matches the applicable rate.
  • gst.no_mixed_basis No mixed or composite basis hidden in the terms.

Total100

Every sub-check returns the marks earned, the marks available and the exact line item identifiers that produced the result. In a paid report you can click any figure and read the original text it was extracted from.

02 · Normalisation

Two quotes are made comparable before they are compared.

  • Unit conversion

Module and unit pricing is converted to a per square foot basis using standard carcass dimensions. Running feet is converted using standard heights per category. The conversion table is a constants file, not a judgement call.

  • Lumpsum allocation

A lumpsum is allocated across the scope items it plausibly covers and marked as allocated, so it never masquerades as an itemised rate.

  • Common scope library

Every line is matched to a shared library of scope codes. Exact and fuzzy text matching runs first; only genuinely unmatched lines are classified further, and a code that is not in the library can never be created.

  • Presence states

For each scope code and each quote we record present, vague or absent. Vague means the document mentions it without pricing or specifying it.

03 · Missing scope and rates

Priced as a band, never as false precision.

Expected scope is derived from your property type and the rooms in scope, plus the items that are commonly left out. Anything expected but absent from every quote is a gap. Each gap is sized from your carpet area and priced at the median benchmark rate for your city, then published as a range from 80% to 130% of that estimate. We publish a band because a single rupee figure for work nobody has specified would be dishonest.

Quoted rates are compared against the benchmark distribution for your city. Below the 25th percentile is flagged as suspiciously low and worth checking the specification. Above the 75th percentile is flagged as above market and negotiable. Neither flag is an accusation: it is a prompt to ask.

Median across audited quote pairs. Measured as scope missing from at least one quote, priced at city benchmark rates.

04 · What the report will never do

Rules the writing is held to.

  • The score is computed by a fixed program. The same two documents always produce the same score.
  • No figure appears in the written commentary unless it exists in the audited data or follows directly from it. Every number is validated before the report is issued.
  • No vendor is called dishonest, bad or a fraud. We report what the document states and what it omits.
  • A field the document does not state is recorded as absent, never estimated to fill a gap.
  • Your quotations are confidential. They are never shared with any vendor, including the ones being compared.

Scopewise takes no money from interior vendors.

Scopewise is never paid for the outcome of any recommendation. No commissions, no referral fees, no lead sales, no sponsored placements, no paid rankings. Homeowners are our only reporting customers. Where interior firms pay us, it is only to have their quotation template audited against the published standard, which has no bearing on any individual verdict.

If we don't find at least ₹50,000 of missing scope or mispricing, you pay nothing.

Now run it on your own quotations.
